F. Blair Wimbush Elected Chair of Virginia Symphony Board
Rony Thomas, Debbie Russell, Edward F.Hanley, Elena Duggan Elected to Board
Hampton Roads, VA… F. Blair Wimbush, was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra at the recent VSO Annual Meeting. Wimbush, Vice President – Real Estate and Corporate Sustainability Officer for Norfolk Southern has served on the Board Executive Committee since 2005 and chaired the Development Committee 2006-2008. Susan Goode was elected Secretary of the Board and Asa Shield, Treasurer. Richard Waitzer will serve as Immediate Past Chair.
Also elected to the Board of Directors were Rony Thomas, President and CEO LifeNet Health, Inc., Debbie Russell, of Suffolk, (Immediate Past President of the Norfolk-Virginia Beach Junior League), Edward F. Hanley,Vice President of Labor Relations, Maersk Line Limited and Elena Duggan, President of the Virginia Symphony Society of Greater Williamsburg.
The Virginia Symphony has a 31 member Board of Directors from throughout the Hampton Roads region. The Symphony with a complement of 79 professional musicians under the direction of Grammy-nominated Music Director JoAnn Falletta performs 140 concerts annually, reaching 200,000 concert goers every season in venues throughout the region. VSO education and outreach programs reach 53,000 students and adult learners every year. The Virginia Symphony Orchestra is the cultural cornerstone of the performing arts in Hampton Roads.
