Virginia Symphony Presents Outdoor Concert at Virginia Zoo, Sunday, September 7
Concert Made Possible by Tourism Opportunity Program (TOPS) and Bank of America
Hampton Roads, VA… Spend a magical evening under the stars at the Virginia Zoo with JoAnn Falletta, the professional musicians of the Virginia Symphony and the delightful animals of the Virginia Zoo. Lions, Tigers & Symphony – Oh My! Sunday Evening, September 7, 6pm. Enjoy such family musical favorites as Peter and the Wolf, the Pink Panther, highlights from Jurassic Park and a medley from the Lion King as the orchestra performs outdoors in an informal family oriented setting.
This special performance was made possible by a TOPS grant (Tourism Opportunity Program) from the City of Norfolk to the Virginia Symphony and sponsorship by Bank of America. The concert is free to Subscribers and Donors of the Virginia Symphony and to Members of the Virginia Zoo. Non-members and non-subscribers can enjoy this extraordinary evening for the cost of Zoo admission.
For the evening, the Zoo's event field will be transformed into a musical park so visitors can spread blankets and settle in to enjoy the concert. There will be “picnic food” and drinks, and visits by special animal ambassadors. Refreshments will be available for purchase at the Zoo Restaurant and in the events field.

The Virginia Symphony Orchestra with a complement of 79 professional musicians under the direction of Grammy-nominated Music Director JoAnn Falletta performs 140 concerts annually, reaching 200,000 concert goers every season in venues throughout the region. Our education and outreach programs reach 53,000 students and adult learners every year. The Virginia Symphony Orchestra is the cultural cornerstone of the performing arts in Hampton Roads.
