Musical Mosaic: Symphony Under the Stars

Discover the vast range of the orchestra in a program that unites timeless composers and favorite hit scores! Soar across the skies with “Flying Theme” from John Williams’ score for E.T., cross the threshold into the “Hall of the Mountain King” with Peer Gynt, or sweep down the plains with tunes from Rodger & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma. From thrilling adventures to unforgettable melodies, every piece reveals another color of the VSO.

Pack a picnic, bring a cozy blanket, and enjoy a night of breathtaking performances. The Fifes & Drums of York Town will open the show at 6 p.m., setting the perfect patriotic tone for this cherished annual concert, which officially begins at 7:30 p.m.

This free concert is presented by the Celebrate Yorktown Committee of the Yorktown Foundation with generous support from York County, York County Arts Commission, and the Virginia Commission for the Arts, as well as community contributors from organizations, businesses, and individuals. The volunteer-run Celebrate Yorktown Committee works diligently to raise the money needed to cover the costs of this special evening.

Can We Bring Chairs and Blankets?

Attendees are welcome to bring their own chairs, blankets, etc. We do not allow tents, umbrellas, or flag banners.

Can We Bring Outside Food and Drink?

Outside food and beverage is permitted. Alcoholic beverages are only allowed within the ABC area which will be clearly marked.

Can We Bring our Dogs?

This event attracts a large crowd, and we recommend leaving your furry friend at home.

What is the Rain Policy?

The rain date is September 8. In the event of inclement weather, updates will be posted to our website, social media, and distributed to our email list. You may also call the event weather hotline at 757-890-3520.
