Ring in the New Year on a high note with the VSO! We’re bringing the Vienna Philharmonic’s cherished tradition to Hampton Roads, filling the concert hall with the infectious optimism of Johann Strauss II’s melodies. VSO Principal Flute Minha Kim adds her virtuosity and expressive artistry to the mix with Mozart’s beloved Flute Concerto in G major.
Eric Jacobsen serves as the Virginia Symphony Orchestra’s twelfth Music Director, a position he’s held since 2021. He is also artistic director and co-founder of The Knights, the uniquely adventurous NYC-based chamber orchestra, and Music Director of the Orlando Philharmonic. In addition to conducting, Eric is a dedicated chamber musician (cello) and is a member of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble.
Minha Kim joined the Virginia Symphony Orchestra as Principal Flute in 2024, with an impressive background that includes guest Principal appearances with the Chicago, Toronto, and Fort Worth Symphonies, and a 2023 North American Tour with the Chicago Symphony. A prize-winning soloist, she has claimed top honors at competitions hosted by the New York, Atlanta, and Seattle Flute Clubs, and has performed at festivals including Tanglewood and Spoleto Festival USA. She holds degrees from the New England Conservatory, Rice University, and DePaul University.
