The Virginia Symphony Orchestra has announced a new vice president of development. Elizabeth Baroody comes to the position with nearly two decades of fundraising experience.
Baroody will be responsible for preparing a comprehensive annual plan for VSO’s development activities to support the philanthropic needs of the organization. She will also function as a major and planned gifts officer, making sure that donations are adequate to meet or exceed the goals in the annual plan. She’s also responsible for overseeing the launch and execution of an endowment campaign effort, working closely with the campaign counsel, the VSO president and volunteers.
Most of Baroody’s career has been in health care philanthropy. She was recently the executive director of development at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk.
“I am thrilled to be taking on a leadership role at the Virginia Symphony Orchestra,” Baroody said in a press release. “The organization’s positive momentum and visionary leadership make this a very special time to be a part of the VSO.”
