Virginia Symphony Orchestra is committed to the health and safety of all patrons, staff, and artists. See a complete list of precautions below as you plan to come to an event.
DC safety protocols and procedures:
- Please plan to arrive early (doors open 1 hour prior to each performance) to ensure plenty of time to be safely seated.
- To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment, SevenVenues has implemented new security measures including magnetometers. Entering a SevenVenues facility constitutes consent to metal detector screening, physical and/or visual inspection of person and belongings. Failure to consent or submit to an inspection will result in denial of entry. In order to increase the efficiency of this process, guests should minimize the number of personal items they bring to the venue.
- Upon arrival, temperature checks will be mandatory for performers, Virginia Symphony Orchestra and Seven Venues staff. No one will be admitted without taking one.
- Hand sanitizing stations will be available for use at entry and throughout the venue.
- Wearing a mask covering mouth and nose will be mandatory for patrons and staff – to be worn the entire time onsite. No one will be admitted without one. If concessions are sold, masks may only be removed while seated in assigned seat and consuming food/beverage.
- Audience seating is provided and will be sanitized before each performance. Performance seating will be arranged to accommodate each party allowing for a minimum of six feet of physical distance from other parties. Upon arrival, ushers will be available to assist you to your seating location.
- No one with a fever or symptoms of COVID-19, or known exposure to a COVID-19 case in the prior 14 days, will be permitted.
- Guided, staggered audience dismissal will be implemented with the guidance of VAF staff to avoid bottlenecks upon exit.
Chrysler Hall/SCOPE Plaza/Attucks Theatre/Harrison Opera House Bag and Entrance Policy:
Each patron is permitted to bring one approved bag into the venue.
All approved bags are subject to search prior to entry.
Patrons carrying bags that do not comply with the clear bag policy will be asked to purchase an approved clear bag and return their unapproved bags to their vehicle. Clear bags are provided free of charge outside the entrance if a patron does not have their own bag.
Approved Bags:
- Clear plastic/vinyl bags including purses, backpacks and drawstring bags that do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12”. Logos must be limited to one side of the bag and should not exceed 4.5” x 3.4”.
- One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (i.e. Ziploc or similar)
- Small clutch bags or wallets, with or without handle/strap, no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” (Do not need to be clear.)
- Medically necessary bags/equipment and diaper bags (Do not need to be clear. Contents subject to inspection prior to entry.)
- Binoculars cases (Binoculars must be compact/pocket sized and no larger than 6”x 6” when extended)
- Camera Cases (Camera lens cannot exceed 6”)
Prohibited Bags:
- Any unapproved bag larger than 4.5” x 6.5”
- Printed pattern plastic bags
- Fanny packs (unless clear and within size restriction)
Because COVID-19 is a highly contagious, there is a risk of exposure in any place where people gather. Virginia Symphony Orchestra is taking appropriate steps to create a safe environment for all patrons, artists, and staff. Attendees of Virginia Symphony Orchestra events assume all risks associated with the possibility of exposure to or contracting of any illness.
